I read the countries slowing the growth rate of the pandemic is accomplished by looking for cases. We are more passive.

U.S. Lags in Coronavirus Testing After Slow Response to Outbreak
It has tested at a much lower rate than Italy, which has outpaced the rest of Europe, and South Korea, where testing and monitoring have slowed the growth of new cases.

I say that fighting coronavirus is like fighting an insurgency. The enemy blends in with the populace and recruits more enemy. I have done calculations and the pandemic increases 3.3 times every week. Considering what has transpired with the government, I don't have much confidence in regards to a comprehensive plan. We need more tests, more hazmat suits, more quarantine facilities, more hospital capacity. Coronavirus is attacking us instead of attacking the virus.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Quarantines and increased hygiene are helpful, but are defensive tactics during pandemic. We need intelligence (i.e. individual testing and lab analysis) and offensive tactics (i.e. anti-viral drugs and vaccine) in order to make an impact.

I have no interest to have my family tested unless showing symptoms and even then might just quarantine them. No vaccine and no specified treatment, I think they will just stay home until illness requires transport to the hospital.
