How the organization supports veterans

As an organization, we strive to bring together out military members who are not only fighting the fight overseas but here on the home front as well. We are gaining awareness with military leaders to bring back the varsity programs to the different MAJCOMs; bringing back a sense of passion and pride for sporting events with our military members.

With the MBA Finals being held at the United State Air Force Academy in April 2019, we are bringing military and civilian communities together whether it is by viewership or sponsorship. The more involved we can get the greater community, the more successful this program will be at receiving the backing of major military leaders.

How to get involved or get help

Locally thus far, the Olympic City USA of Colorado Springs, City Council Members and El Paso County Commissioners, and a host of other private, public, academic, and governmental agencies, have already contributed or pledged human resources and other essential support to make this 2018-2019 Tournament a community success.  The fact that the venue for the games is the United States Air Force Academy is huge.  The Denver U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion and Colorado Springs Recruiting Company have pledged support, and we will seek similar support from the other service Recruiters.

The actual MBA Tournament games and qualifying teams-related logistics requirements plans have been ongoing since last year, and are well on track.  But as you can imagine, successful execution of this large scale event requires significant resources, volunteers, sponsorship fundraising, and community support.  That’s where PPC-AUSA comes in, and our most daunting challenge is working the short timeline between now and the Tournament.

Fortunately, our Chapter Vice President for Guard & Reserve Affairs, Cinthia Wilkinson, has stepped up and accepted the strategic partnership's all-important Tournament Committee Chairperson position.  Since mid-Nov, Cindy has accomplished a remarkable amount of work already in forming the committee, networking, and holding workshops and planning meetings to prepare for kick off of the Sponsorship Campaign.

But due to a training commitment with the Air Guard, Cindy will be out of town 6-20 Jan, and she still needs skilled volunteer committee members in the areas of marketing, graphic design, media relations, and general administrative assistance.  While we certainly need cash donations primarily, if your business, company, or organization can provide such support, we will give credit for in-kind contributions and agree on an appropriate level of sponsorship recognition for services provided.  Cindy can be reached at:  cwilkinson@aafmaa.com; (719) 313-7847.  TC Chair Deputy, Frank Sinclair, Director, Business Development of Elite Roofing can be reached at:  frank@elite-roofs.com; 719-460-2453.
