A Vietnam Combat Veteran has been in combat and has received the CAR or CAB. A Vietnam Veteran is an individual who performed active military, naval, or air service in the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. A Vietnam Era Veteran served during the Vietnam era but did not serve in Vietnam.

I think you have received many excellent and well thought out responses on the differences of these various groups,I think some differences would be say, didn’t get a phony doctor’s script (heart condition, asthma) didn’t use family wealth or political influence for extended college deferment or cut and run to Canada later they were all welcomed home in an shameful amnesty program, well enough of this bitterness, I consider all who served during Vietnam my Brothers ,what ever their” differences “

I had a Veteran talk with me yesterday and tell me about what people did to dodge the draft. You Vietnam Veterans are studs. Definitely changed the game for all of us after you. I hope we can live up to your dreams and aspirations for this country. Thanks for paying it forward.

Appreciate your understanding, although I left Vietnam back in 1967 (physically )it truly has made a lifelong impression, so I tend to get a little wacko, when the subject of Service is brought up,Thank you tor your Service Brother and be well.

You experienced the roar of the big guns, you heard the roar of the big guns, you honed your pool skills at That Place Acoss the Street From the Sports Arena in San Diego.

CPT (Join to see) Don't recall. We escaped from CA at retirement. My recollection was that it was surrounded by a large, unpaved parking area. In those days, the Sports Arena was new, and in a largely undeveloped area. TPATSFTSA was a large, two story, "A" frame, eclectic atmosphere, bar/pool hall directly across the blvd.
It was heavily frequented by UC La Jolla and San Diego State girls. In between deployments, and while TAD to "A" and "J" schools, I tended bar there as a floater. It, and it's sister bar, Long Juan's, in IB were, as the saying goes, target rich environments. Of course, the girls in IB were more biker types. :-)) :-))

CWO4 Terrence Clark - That may have been before my time. I grew up in the only house that was in that area. It was a relic. I lived a few blocks away from the sport area on Hancock st. I left for the Army when I was 18. I didn't get a chance to enjoy it much.

CPT (Join to see) Out of curiosity I just MAP'd the area. Looks like both our memories are beneath a shopping center parking lot.
