About
Missoula is "My Home Town!" Have you seen the movie " A River Runs Through It" If you have, you have also seen scenes of Missoula. Missoula is known for its blue-ribbon trout fishing (made famous by A River Runs Through It) and spectacular natural beauty. The outdoor recreational opportunities are limitless.
During World War II, Fort Missoula housed an internment camp for Italian detainees, who called the area Bella Vista (Beautiful View). It was also an internment camp for Japanese Americans arrested as "enemy aliens" after Pearl Harbor.

Things to do here
The great outdoors, greater than ever. When it comes to outdoor recreation, Missoula is unbeatable. Here you're close to hiking and mountain climbing (the Northern Rockies are what we call home) on one hand, and fishing and kayaking (the three rivers that meet nearby - even for river surfing!) on the other.
Missoula also boasts a rich arts and music culture, family-friendly activities, and a multitude of special events year-round. Downtown Missoula is the heart of the city and provides a vibrant mix of culture, shopping, dining and entertainment. Check out Downtown Missoula's wide range of activities and the downtown Shopping.

Things to avoid here
Bears: Black and grizzly bears are native to the Missoula area. Both black and grizzly bears are native inhabitants of the Missoula area. Most are black bears, but in recent years grizzly bears have begun making their way south from the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem
