Newley awarded 100% and live in Illinois, any suggestions on auto insurance and homeowner insurance? Are any specific insurance companies better to deal with deal or any to stay away from. I had USAA for a long time till I found out they go through progressive. switched directly to progressive and saved over 100$ a month. but that was years ago. any suggestions are going to be greatly appreciated.

I had State Farm until the mid 90's. PCS'ing to Europe kinda forced me to USAA. Been with them ever since. Having lived back and forth between Europe and CONUS, it was just easier. I have mine bundled and like that I can change statu when I store a vehicle. I quit looking at cost as it does not tell the whole tail of service to customers. USAA does farm out my boat insurance to Progressive. It may be cheaper to go direct, but as I bundle a lot, I like the fact that USAA oversees the policy and I get a USAA discount from Progressive. States regulate requirements for auto policiy minimums. Just remember, the more stuff you gather on the trail of life, the the greater chance of loss when you file a claim..

Personally for homeowners insurance i prefer using a broker, let someone else do the shopping around and prepare comparisons. They usually have access to smaller insurance companies as well as the big ones, and it gives you a local point of contact.
