Bank manager sentenced for using position to steal over $200,000 directly from customer

Why does this not surprise me?

Growing up in my hometown a guy that was a manager for a regional bank had set up a scheme to take 4 cents this month of everyone's account, 2 cents the next month, 6 cents the next month and so on and so on so it wouldn't be obvious...He walked away with over 300K before he got caught...the way he got caught was a little old lady that balanced her checkbook every month. She did not understand why she was off by several pennies every month. The bank told her to not worry about it, but she persisted, so they looked into it and eventually caught the guy.
