Exactly so. I was especially impressed when, after being shot in the chest by a would-be assassin, he refused to go to a hospital and proceeded to deliver an 84-minute speech!

Teddy was a great leader with his volunteers. For my money, his creating the National Parks is his top achievement. I choose to not remember him for his progressivism.
