Mission
Under the authority of the United Nations (UN Security Council Resolution 1244) NATO has been leading a peace support operation in Kosovo since 12 June 1999 in support of wider international efforts to build peace and stability in the area.
KFOR's mission is to:
- contribute to a safe and secure environment
- support and coordinate the international humanitarian effort and civil presence
- support the development of a stable, democratic, multi-ethnic and peaceful Kosovo
support the development of the Kosovo Security Force
