In 2020, more than 800 women have taken the Women’s Health Transition Training and are better prepared for their journey to civilian life. This training discusses the health services available to Servicewomen from the VA, how to enroll in the VA, and other information critical to their future health care needs.
To learn more about The Women’s Health Transition Training, listen to new episodes on the She Wears the Boots podcast hosted by Nicole Loew and Wendy Fahlgren. The VA launched these podcasts to address various topics that impact women who served and discuss why they matter.
Women’s Health Transition Training: First, Dr. Nancy Maher and Major Alea Nadeem discuss why this program was started and why every woman should attend a Women’s Health Transition Training session. You can listen to the full discussion here: http://rly.pt/3qYNJxn
Women’s Health Transition Training, Addressing Perceptions of the VA: The next episode featuring Major Alea Nadeem and Halima Ahmadi-Montecalvo, PhD addresses some of the perceptions that Servicewomen and Veteran women have about VA. Listen to the interview here: http://rly.pt/3nqdX9S
Women’s Health Transition Training, a Participant’s Experience: In the third Women’s Health Transition Training episode, She Wears the Boots host interviews a past participant, Sarah Maples, who gives her thoughts about the training. Sarah is an Air Force Veteran, blogger, and strong advocate for transitioning Servicewomen and women Veterans. Tune into Sarah’s interview here: http://rly.pt/3mpx82i
Through December 21, for the safety of participants and trainers, all Women’s Health Transition Training (WHTT) sessions have shifted to a virtual format on Adobe Connect. WHTT will be offered twice per day. For more information and upcoming Women’s Health Transition Training course opportunities or to register for one of the final sessions available this year – visit http://rly.pt/3lRihxP.
In early 2021, all transitioning Servicewomen and women Veterans will be able to take a self-paced version of the Women’s Health Transition Training anytime, anyplace online at TAPevents.org/courses.
