A message from the General: “Thank you each for your service. Thank you also for giving me the opportunity to answer your questions and I hope you’ll enjoy Team of Teams.”
From the RallyPoint Team:
This May, General McChrystal is releasing his new book: "Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World"
In the book, "McChrystal and his colleagues show how the challenges they faced in Iraq can be relevant to countless businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations. The world is changing faster than ever, and the smartest response for those in charge is to give small groups the freedom to experiment while driving everyone to share what they learn across the entire organization."

GEN Stanley McChrystal
What are the most important issues and resources for service members as they transition from the military into the civilian world?
Thank you!

Sir, how do you get effective decisions made about complex (or even wicked) problems without getting bogged down in analysis? Thank you

GEN Stanley McChrystal - I need to tell you it was an honor working for you as part of the CJIOC-A back in 2009-2010. In fact, I nearly knocked you over once running down the gym stairs so I could shower and make a meeting on time. My question, Gen, is this: What's your response to people who criticize COIN for (a) taking too long and (b) costing too much? I'm a COIN advocate, but can't get people to understand that point of view. Any tips?

Again thank you Sir and thank you in advance for all that you do for our veterans!

Sir, thank you for taking time out of your day and giving the RallyPoint community the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session.
My question is regarding mentorship. What qualities should you be looking for when seeking out a mentor and how should the mentoring process develop over an extended period of time? Also, sir, who was your most important mentor and how did they help develop you as both a Soldier and a person?
Thank you for your service, sir!

GEN Stanley McChrystal, Do you plan any book signing events for Team of Teams? If so where and when will those events take place?

GEN Stanley McChrystal, there has been continued discussions about the Threat of ISIS on Service Members and military bases are at the highest level of security since the 10 year anniversary of 9/11.
How would you feel about a full repeal of the Clinton weapons ban on service members carrying their personal weapons on military posted whether they are carried concealed or open?
Your thoughts on this well discussed issue is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and your service to our country.

First sir I'd like to say thank you for joining us here on RP and sharing your insight with us.
The relationship between the media, political policy, and the military presents a number of challenges in managing the bureaucracy of war. As with the night raids in Afghanistan there were a number of narratives in response to the civilian deaths. With the military saying one thing, media reporting another, and local and domestic politicos expressing their views can you explain your decision process in how you managed this particular aspect of the SOF operations and what advice would you offer to other senior leaders in how to balance military/political objectives.
