Learning from the Past...Positioning for the Future
Directors of VISN 19 reflect on the Pandemic and its effects on employees, veterans, and themselves.

A new mini-documentary captures the COVID-19 response by the VA Rocky Mountain Network (also known as Veterans Integrated Service Network [VISN] 19) and explores the path ahead for Veteran health care.
Across the VA clinicians, directors, and everyone involved in running our medical facilities worked tirelessly to care for our Veteran population as the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in the United States.
We took unprecedented measures to reduce exposure and safeguard our health care workers, the Veterans we serve, and their family members. Our ability to quickly pivot and direct maximum effort to control the spread of the coronavirus – and then begin vaccinating those in our care – played a crucial role in an overarching whole of government approach in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health care organizations.
This 14-minute video shares our professional and personal struggles, our ability to make adjustments to meet the threat head-on, and our vision for the future of Veteran health care. This is our story.

Thanks, Ryan Callahan, this was a team effort. SGT Jill Atwood is the creative producer who made this happen.

I recall being required to get a Hepititis C innoculation when I worked for the VA. Every employee was required to get it or be fired
