In episode 157, we spoke with Army Veteran Ursula Draper about her role in the development of an Assistive Technology (AT) program. In this week’s Benefits Breakdown, we take a deeper dive into how this program works and who is able to access it.
The AT program will sound familiar to those who know Darwin’s Theory of Adaptation. The adaptation theory–also known as survival theory, or survival of the fittest–is an organism’s ability to adapt to changes in its environment and adjust accordingly. The Assistive Technology program helps Veterans to do just that.

Good information; nice to know that if you need the care and you are not near one of the polytrauma centers your location can do teleheath with them for advice and treatment suggestions

Absolutely - Benefits Breakdowns are my favorite episodes to do because it give me a chance to pass word that I'm learning at that exact moment!

My experience with the VA has been a disaster. I’m talking about the Lebanon Valley VA in Pennsylvania. From the very first visit they didn’t know who I was or what I was there for. I had called for 6 weeks prior to my appointment to ensure they got my records. I called every week and they managed to screw it up. I’ll never go back!

I had a similar experience when I first went to the VA. However, I can tell you that I had a pleasant experience with the MISSION Act's community care program until COVID-19 happened.
