Can anyone tell me why the process takes so long for RC officer/warrant promotions to run through the FedRec cycle? I'm an ARNG officer and I've had my state promotion orders for CPT since the middle of April. I've been tracking my packet on the ARNG-G1 website and it was awaiting addition to a scroll until a month ago and last week the scroll was ready to start the approval DoD cycle. Thoughts?

I posted this last week in this thread...the tracker does not have the most up to date info. Here is what NGB sent me (copy/paste from their email): U01-17 was approved by the SecDef on 28 March 2017. However, orders have not been published as of yet. Once FEDREC receives the approved signed scroll orders will be published. This normally takes 2 to 4 weeks after approval. Personnel will still receive the effective and DOR date of 28 March 2017.

CW5 (Join to see) - That is literally word for word what I heard back from them on L01-17. As stated prior, the good news is that if the scroll was already signed, then your getting promoted! Just have to use that MRT to "hunt the good stuff" until the orders are published

After 62 days in the approval cycle Scroll L02-17 has finally been updated in the G1 tracker to Office of the Judge Advocate General. Anyone know how far along that is?

Does anyone have an update on P-01-17? It has been at OSD since at least early March. I've noticed others posted updates today about their scrolls, which are after P-01-17, finally moving to OSD on the tracker so I am hoping that P-01-17 might be moving also! I called NGB today, but their info was only current thru 3/21/17 and still said OSD. Thanks!

CPT(P) David Thorp - I believe L01-17 already published. If you're on that one, you should already be a 1LT.

CPT(P) David Thorp - It'll be a long time for that one. One of my buddies is on that scroll as well, and the counter was still on 0 days last time she checked about a week ago.

Well, I have finally gotten my state orders. Can someone share a link of where I can check on my scroll status please? I tried: http://g1arng.army.pentagon.mil/ but had the Server Error in '/' Application.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Will do, she mentioned that she was at a school, something about computer access and that she was working receiving scrolls from the SEC DEF...Anyways, hopefully there is a good reason why promotion scrolls have stopped and it has been fixed.

Anyone looking for an update on P02-17; packets are at JAG day 123 in the red. My state orders were published in June 2016; will be a year before we know it.

Unfortunately the better process is in the private sector. I often use the analogy of this is why Americans do not enjoy soccer. Not many activities have a clock that counts up and suddenly ends. Just think if NASA launches operated in a similar manner. We'd never know quite when the rocket was going to launch. Periods in a football, basketball or hockey games would suddenly end at an arbitrary time with fans all looking at each other in wonder.
A count down holds people accountable to deadlines and completing tasks in a timely manner. Government just doesn't work that way.
I am in the National Guard for a reason. Seven years of active duty taught me why I needed to go private sector.

CPT (Join to see) - Very true sir and that's a interesting way of looking at the problem. Still IMO, this is clearly a process that is in need of a tune-up. There's no reason that it should take this long to process a promotion. I will at least get back-pay but many of the others getting promoted to O3 & above won't receive any compensation due to any delay experienced while their packets float from office to office.

Just looked at the number today and noticed it is now at 141, but changed to Awaiting Off of Sec of Defense. According to the work flow, that should be the final step for O5 & below. Maybe the soccer game is about ready to end.

I was able to get in this morning and yesterday, but now I get "An error was experienced that could not be recovered from." This happens from time to time and will be back up in the next couple of days.

Does anyone have any insight into this process? I can't seem to find anything and it would be really helpful to myself and others if someone that knows the ins and outs could educate us on what happens to a promotion packet once it's sent up for FedRec.

Roger, sir. I wanted your assessment since you've had some experience with these things up at DA level. I was hoping you'd have that response. That's what I was thinking, too, but I wasn't sure since our BN S4 is in the same boat as me and was a scroll behind me. His hasn't changed so I was worried that there was a possibility that something was wrong. I'll retag this to include it in the personnel lane and see if we can get a 42-series perspective.

LTC Tim Ellis - You were correct, sir. It looks as though the scroll number for the otehr guy in my BN has also changed to reflect the new FY. He was on 14-16 and is now on 02-17, still one scroll behind mine. Just thought I'd let you know you were right.

My understanding is that the process has increased due to the fact that they are conducting background checks on folks as soon as your packet goes up but I'm not sure when that takes place. From what my state OPM told me, they had to conduct the background checks as folks that had DUIs DWIs, and other infractions were getting promoted. This process apparently weeds those folks out early.I'm at 55 days in and sitting at the same place you are and few answers.

Its amazing that there is no published directive on how this process works...very much smoke and mirrors. The G1 Tracker is more of a hindrance then a help at this point, as I've been told by numerous folks that it rarely gets updated.
