WHY does giving thanks give you an edge?
It's the day after Thanskgiving and I'm a little late on talking about Giving Thanks, but am I? There is One Simple and Proven Reason Gratitude is the Winning Attitude and how it will affect the Team you are leading RP Members? How important is it toward your goal as a leader and the Team you are building to give thanks?
Positive emotions like gratitude help us become more resilient. There are at least three ways gratitude encourages resilience. And these apply to athletes, entrepreneurs, parents, leaders … anyone.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs great thread, well I like to give back. I feel I am blessed by grace and heaven above. I was visiting my mother-in-law and chipped in to help buy sodas/water for the community Thanksgiving dinner. Just surprising my in-laws and putting a smile on everyone's face made the difference. I always like to help out when I can, and I accumulate a lot of favors. Time to cash in for Christmas.

Giving thanks gives us an edge because that is the way God designed us COL Mikel J. Burroughs. Both giving thanks and doing for others what we would like done for ourselves plays forward the blessing of people and has been doing so for millennia.

I have run into many leaders who do not appreciate all the hard work put forth by their soldiers and the performance of the unit is poor or the company with the most problems. It all starts at the top. The leaders who do appreciate efforts and work accomplished by their soldiers have a better work environment and soldiers want to be seen as making a difference. The motivation level of individual soldiers increases and unit stats climb. It all starts with a simple "Thanks". Positive climate once obtained creates more positive.

I have overcome: three abusive parents (one step parent), homelessness, rape, MST, a psychiatrist who claimed that I was: "...dead and depressing to be around."..., mental illness- for twenty-seven years, I have to contend with PTSD, a 100% service-connected stress disorder, etc., etc.
I am/was very resilient; and I don't exactly know why I was- because I didn't believe in God.
But I have a feeling that God did save me and help me each time. I believe that God was behind every "escape"; if you will.
I am currently highly faithful.

SPC Margaret Higgins, the hard things in life arrive like a slap in the face with a cold fish. The good things we must look a bit harder for - lest we just consider them the unremarkable "normal" condition of life. Gratitude for those good things helps us to see the big picture more clearly.

To me, it reminds me to be grateful for what I have. It allows me to consider alternatives, and it helps me focus on what is important in life.
