And who really wins??? If they sides don't come together, we will continue the current trend. One side doesn't have all the answers and that's the problem, all of them, including independents think they have the answers. Politics!!!

Either way the American people lose. We need to support third parties, instead of the same old corrupt politicians. One political party more than Cuba enjoys, is not enough.

SSG (Join to see),

Here is a great thread, with some great talk/discussion about 3rd parties:
https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/2016-presidential-race-if-you-could-see-anyone-win-who-would-it-be-and-why?urlhash=644158

In complete transparency, personally, I've always voted Republican.

I'm not so sure about it, for this coming election.

I think the national context related to spending trillions on war, producing millions of veterans, then failing to take care of them, while simultaneously push to cut/modify/amend/etc certain benefits, has really begun to rub me the wrong way.

Granted, I know society is comprised of many more groups of people than JUST 'military/veterans', however, I think you can tell alot about a society by the way it treats its veterans....especially when you just asked them to bear the burden of war for 14+ years.

When some of the Republican AND Democrat candidates start proposing reductions to their own pay/benefits, then I think I may start listening.

I won't hold my breath.

HERE is another great thread:
https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/republican-democrat-or-other-what-do-we-have-more-of-here-what-reasons-do-you-like-one-party-over-the-other?urlhash=158815

I liked THIS comment:
"None of the above. The Broom Party. Throw them ALL out and start over period."

:)

P.s. If I'm not mistaken, I believe both the Democrats and the Republicans were actually 3rd parties, at one time. They rose to 'power' due to similar conditions as we are seeing with societies current disgruntlement with both parties.

Just MHO, but political parties are what keep getting us into messes like government shut downs and the inability to pass effective and meaningful legislation. The party seems to come first before We The People when Congress votes. Notice how everyone gets upset at those that "cross party lines" and the media makes a big deal about it. Mid term elections - throw one party out so the other can take charge, yet nothing changes. The president is from this party and the congress is controlled by the other party so they don't get alone. The parties don't suffer, We The People take the brunt of the "abuse of power"

Elected officials need to vote their conscience and the will of their constituents - the MAJORITY of their constituent not the highest paying ones. Only then, IMHO, will we get things back on track.

I don't care for any of them. Unless something changes drastically, I plan to write in, James N. Mattis. We need leadership, not rhetoric.

Finally a candidate we can get behind? I feel very strongly that the Commander in Chief should be a veteran (not a draft dodger or someone who only served in the Guard).

We need a strong military as a deterrent force, not necessarily to engage in every little issue around the globe. Some previous POTUS's have been far too quick to send out the troops. The exceptions tend to be the ones who know what it means to serve and deploy...

Can he get past the Hilary machine?

It doesn't matter because all the politicians only are out for their own success and they are not concerned with what needs to be done but only with what they can gain.

I'm sorry, I don't want them to work with liberals. I want them to do what's right whichever party wins, unfortunately it will be Hilary because people don't follow the news, or they listen to social media and get their news that way. they need to start listening more to the old-fashioned newspaper

In fairness, is everything a conservative does correct? Not everything a liberal does is a bad thing, hell I like clean drinking water, don't you? I like paved roads, and bridges that don't collapse under me. I like the concept of knowing American businesses will get equal footing without destroying ground water, dumping chemicals, killing every honey bee on the planet. The Republican party needs to reinvent itself or become the party of constipated cranky old white guys.

conservatives are not against that....If they don't have my line of thinking, they are not true conservative. example John McCain, Boehner, McConnel for example they are Liberal republicans....they were elected to change the direction we are heading, and they haven't. I'm sorry but what I see on the news is the cranky ol white guys are coming from the left....with their filthy lies, distortions and half truths....I'm an American, non socialist Nazi, hate communism, believe in Christian values ....so I wouldn't make a very good democrat

The news is owned by a few corporations who have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. It doesn't matter if it's tailored for a conservative audience or a liberal audience, it's still corporate news tailored to promote their interests.

If you believe that we should listen to subject matter experts when it comes to science, your probably a liberal. If you support the idea that someone who puts in a full days work deserves a decent wage... even when there is a surplus of labor, your defiantly a liberal. If you want government to regulate corporations that spew pollutants into our air and water, your probably a liberal. If you don't want government telling churches who they can marry, or government interfering with matters that should be dealt with between a woman and her doctor... your probably a liberal.

you make a good point. What is the solution though. If the government runs the news, it'll be nothing but lies, and cover-ups.
