Lincoln was a good president and he did free the slaves, however he did it very reluctantly and only in the states that were in rebellion. He has been quoted as saying the only reason he freed the slaves was to save the union.
If you study the issue you will find that many slaveholders were divesting themselves from slaves. You will also find that there were very many black slave holders - but the discussion of slavery is a whole "nuther" subject for discussion

PO1 John Miller - The Republican party of his time was nothing like the GOP today. 150 years tends to do that. Also, to put him on the Liberal/Conservative scale would be terribly anachronistic. He would probably be completely horrified by most of what ANY American thinks today.

Ronald Reagan because he really cared for the Military. You saw it in is actions on how he took care of us. Trust but verify....

Ronald Regan, he put the USSR in financial ruin and then it Broke Apart. For those of you who have never done a duck and cover drill in school thank Ronald Regan. Growing up during the cold war one always had the shadow of a nuclear war over them. It was the intent of the USSR, China, and their puppets to spread Communism to the whole world.
The USSR would have taken all of Europe after WWII if it were not for the USA. The Korean war and vietnam were Proxy wars started by russia and china to spread communism through out Asia with only us to stop it. Had we not stood up to them they would have kept going.
