I found that checking multiple sources helped, but ultimately the VA site had the primary source. It took phone calls to get clarification on some things though. The application and using benefits is not too difficult, it's just getting in touch with a proactive school rep to link them up with your program that's tricky. I've talked to frustrated vets that ended up dealing with those "military friendly" schools that usually just end up being a diploma mill...

SPC Joshua Heath, the RallyPoint careers and education team wrote up a pretty detailed blog post about the GI Bill and benefits if that is helpful for you or for others that you know. Feel free to share it!

Thank you! I am working on a project for veterans benefits, and I wanted to have an idea of where people were going for their details. By the way, Rallypoint has been an amazing resource in general for me already.

SPC Joshua Heath, I'm glad we were able to help and that RallyPoint is proving to be a good resource. If you ever have suggestions or ideas please don't hesitate to share them, our product updates are almost all member initiated or driven!

I got a lot of info from my school since they know the in's and out's as it relates specifically to your situation. MSG Kevin Henry might have a good answer.

I actually went to the University I was planning to attend and spoke to the VA counselor at the University. The Counselor happened to be a retired LTC. He set me up and briefed me on what the requirements were.

In researching this I have always verified more than one source for the information. It is also important to note that as requirements, us, and benefits have changed not every website has updated this information.

But, military.com has the best organized articles on pay and benefits.

This might seem trite and/or non-responsive, but when I was discharged in '71 there was no internet. I think Al Gore was even too young to invent it then. I now use myhealthevet for almost everything.

If you want to go to a specific school. You can contact that schools admission office to see if they have any information on the GI Bill and you can also ask them questions about the process for enrollment and using it at their school.
