many years ago there was a Camp Called Camp Grieves just between JFC and the bridge. I see the bridge hasn't changed.

Hello Douglas, it closed down about 10 years ago along with Garry Owen/Pelham. They were the last 2 Camps owned by the US Army. Only American Troops left in the old Western Corridor are those at JSA-Panmunjom.

I remember getting a few up close and personal looks at that bridge, ugly damn thing that it is.

SPC Charles Brown - I remember crossing a bridge in southern Iraq. Big warning sign saying "maximum weight limit 25,000 pounds" while riding in a 14-18 ton (ie 28,000-36,000 pound) MRAP. talk about pucker city.

Although stateside, I spent 2 tours at FHL. Ft. Hunter Liggett had a moniker: 30 miles from water. 2 feet from hell.
The most remote I've seen is Ft. Irwin. I delivered tank engines down there from Ft. Ord. After driving all day, the billboard said "Welcome to Ft. Irwin." The garrison was 35 miles after that sign. And at 35mph max speed limit, that is one God-forsaken place.

2 rotations in the 80s and was station there 90-91, with a TDY trip to the big desert! Duty was good, but hated the desert!

Spent a month there in the summer of 1977. We had to wear thick mechanics coveralls and respirators. We worked 1/2 day every 2 days. We were going around to every squirrel hole and spraying in some sort of dust to kill fleas on the squirrels. Only good part was that I brought my bike down and would take the cross road to Hwy. 1 and go diving at Jade Cove. I had a friend on the coast that lived in the area and we would meet up to dive. It was hell riding over the mountains to the coast on a bike with 2 scuba tanks and other diver gear. The squirrels would intentionally dart out into the road to try to get you into an accident.
