What is the dumbest thing a civilian has asked you?
This happened right after I got back from my Afghanistan Deployment...
CIV - So what's it like not being able to talk to your family while your gone?
ME -I was able able to talk to my family like once a week.
CIV - How?
ME- Messenger Pigeon....*Pause while he looks at me befuddled*...Yeah, the Army issues those to us along with hand lotion.

The worst is usually "hey I know John Smith". He's stationed in Texas do you know him. Ugh.

I was at a large Guard Unit and every once and a while I would run into someone and they say I know someone that works there. I say, really where do they work? They usually never know or it turns out they they retired like 10 years before I got there.

Nothing new. When I was still in, (1970), some friends and I were in New York, (Chinatown to be precise), having dinner. The owner asked if we were in the Army? Yes, we are. Do you know so and so? He's at Ft. Dix. We were as patient as possible with the old guy.

MAJ (Join to see)
A girl working at Whataburger asked me if the Army had a night shift. She said that she was thinking about joining the Army, but only if she could get the day shift.

I was asked the same question, to which I replied "I dunno, I wasn't about to stand up and ask the guy if I hit him." Dumb question, if you stand up in combat you are likely going to be the one shot and probably killed. It was my grandfather who asked me this question.

I get asked how did it feel, my response when it a female is " how did it feel to lose your virginity" females seem to understand how personal of a question they just asked.
