What is it with young people today? They want everything paid for by someone else and don't want to work for anything.

I'm seeing news reports of students walking out of classes today demanding free education. I guess they don't understand it the word free doesn't really exist because someone still has to pay for it.

See the thing with young people is we inherited a world where we were born owing trillions for wars that we never supported. Imagine if you sat down at a restaurant and the middle aged couple that sat at the table before you had run a very high bill and said you would pay it. That's the reality of the situation young people face today. That bill manifests itself not only in crippling government debt at every level, but also in terms of inflation and outsourced jobs due to the rising costs of American workers.

Nothing in life is free. In my opinion I think it's discipline and how they were taught and raised growing up. Had to earn everything I own one way or another. But I agree that someone has to always pay in the end.

I blame video games and technology. Why go get the chips when you can make your little brother do it? Why fight him to when technology will with out argument?

I can't decide my stance on this completely. While I like the idea of free education, you're right, someone has to pay for it. I also like the thought of having to figure out how to pay for it. To a certain extent that's part of the process and a test in itself. Some of that is working, some is loans, some is scholarships, but it's a lesson in itself.
