For any CI soldiers out there... I'm looking at 35L (Counterintelligence agent) as a future career move. Everyone focuses on the strat side... I want to know more about tactical CI. Keeping with OPSEC of course...

What could someone expect being part of a CI team in either an E-MI BN or an E-MIB. What sort of training do CI agents get regularly (how often do they do MOS training, warrior tasks/tactical training, etc)?

Also, on deployment do CI teams go outside the wire/go on missions? If so, do they operate organically with maneuver units or do they operate in their own teams? Does this MOS see combat?

Also, are CI products generally written reports or PowerPoints (aside from TARP and SAEDA briefs) I understand they have their own section on Annex B...

If you don't want to discuss it here. Feel free to PM me... Or we can use enterprise email if you so wish.

Thank you.

SFC Thomas Foreman - if the trojan goes down, they tinker with that. They make sure the server stacks are dress-right-dress. If you need some orange classification stickers for new monitors, a Tango probably has a box of them somewhere. The Tango warrant usually had time to run the 2shop betting pools for the Super Bowl, ncaa tournament and other stuff, too. Out of curiosity, why don’t you have use for the other 35-series?

SPC Ted Ronayne everyone has a different perspective, but in my experience, the 35M/L jobs were boring and nearly irrelevant. They didn’t do much, what they did do wasn’t that great, and not a lot was expected of them. The Princes of pocket trash.
That stated, while no MI mos is going to be an every day Johnny door Kicker, the best way to get out and see the world is to reclass to 35N and try to go Airborne. An airborne qualified November is like gold for the Army.

Another interesting avenue looking into is Great Skills. I think you have to be SPC-SFC to qualify, but they do some...interesting...stuff. Email a usased recruiter and they’ll give more details.

Anyway, don’t be in such a rush to get shot at. Foreman’s correct. It’s overrated.
Best of luck.

SGT (Join to see) - 35 M/L jobs are far from irrelevant. They can appear that way in a couple of cases. If their leadership does not know how to use them, or if they are lazy. They both have some similar roles in deployed scenarios, but at home the mission is quite different. 35L man the 902nd Field Offices, and are responsible for the heavy lifting in a lot of important investigations. If you aren't part of the 902nd, you can still end up at a unit which has a stateside mission. Skills is a good spot, but you typically have to be experienced and already damn good at your job to get in, and have some serious motivation.

CW2 (Join to see) - of course, everyone has a role to play. But if i had a gun to my head, and the choice was, ‘pick a 35series mos that you could afford to deploy without’, it would definitely be M (followed by L).

Sounds like someone had a bad experience. Considering I'm cross trained as both, it makes me sad to see you see us (me) as so little value.

Hey, they're spooks. You don't see spooks. No one sees spooks. No one knows what spooks do. No one knows where spooks are. And, if they did, they couldn't tell you. Right Tim?

You'll have to ask Colonel Flagg, in the picture above.
