We have 20 people that just stopped coming to drill. What do we do? How can we get them back? How fast can we get them out if they don't want to be in the reserves anymore?

Why aren't they coming? You need to figure that out. Each major command has a different policy and procedure for dealing with NPs. One way that will help accelerate the process is to cut AT orders for all of them to appear on a particular weekend. You need to plan that some will attend, but those who don't are able to be separated faster because now they haven't attended something they were ordered to.

Some NPs may be a reflection on the training though. Something you should look at. If you ask the Soldiers why, many times they will tell you. Then you can be proactive in minimizing NPs.

1SG (Join to see) - finding out why they aren't coming is the key here. I had a unit that started having a lot of NPs and it was determined though investigation that it was because females were being sexually harassed. It also may be caused by toxic leadership. If there are problems that exist, they need to be addressed at the same time or you are bailing out a boat with a big hole in it.

Call them. Send certified letters in the mail so they HAVE to sign for it (this way you will be notified the address is still valid), make personal visits. If all of the above fail to get them to return to their appointed place of duty, then the paperwork for processing them out for Unexcused absence should be pretty straight forward. Get with your Admin office to double check what the process is. As long as all your ducks are neatly lined up, then the process to kick them out should not take long.

Also, I recommend you speak with the JAG office to see what legalese needs to be followed.

1SG (Join to see) - No worries, MSG. My Reserve BN has some serious issues with a large number of NPs. These steps were actually recommended to us by JAG at out BDE UTB.
