I volunteer with two different organizations in the veteran space: Travis Manion Foundation and the Delaware Valley Veterans Consortium in Philadelphia, PA.

While these 2 groups are very different, I gain a lot of personal satisfaction by having direct contact with veterans. As someone who struggled some with transition, I see it as a personal responsibility to hep those who are struggling, either directly by talking and meeting with them and making introductions, or indirectly through working with organizations that veterans.

Volunteering allows me to keep serving, something that the Army taught me was important to my personal well-being, sense of accomplishment, and my need to know that I am serving something bigger than me.

LTC Hugo Lentze Thank you for sharing! I'm right in that same boat with you in terms of "public service" being one of the ways in which helps give me a renewed sense of purpose and a new mission in life. A life of continued service back to our communities and to our fellow Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors!
