Since this discussion was combined with another from today, 25JUN15, I'll say this. I am NOT condoning this at all, but the flag ban applied to all flags and not just the US flag on the UC-I campus.

Furthermore, the ban got overturned by a 6-4 vote (sadly not a very big margin).

I also am not surprised that the students who voted to ban all flags do not seem to be from the United States of America. America is good enough to go to school in, but not respect our country and our flag?

In every country I have EVER been in I have stood at attention with my hand over my heart during the playing of their National Anthem and saluted their flag if I was in uniform.

NO U.S. flag then NO government funding, including grants, student loans or any other help that can be tied to government support either directly or indirectly. They should not be able to participate in any interschool activities or NCAA events and must pay all taxes the any citizen or business would have to.

You are either with us or against us, it's just that simple. If you do not like it then leave this country to go to a place that makes you happy. If the school does not comply then they forfeit their certifications.

The next school that tries the same stupid actions automatically gets shutdown. Am I hard core and anal about people trying to change the core values that this country was founded on? You bet, and I will fight to the death to keep those core values strong.

"along with every other flag from the lobby of a complex housing the offices of the student government."

Not the campus. I'm sure they are flying flag in every other location. They removed flags from the student government lobby, calm down its just a headline.

Ok good. As long as it's only banner in parts of the school. Boy I was almost worried for a second.

Along with every other flag...it says. I get the impression that It's an attempt at eliminating nationalism in their student government. Are we a country founded by revolutionaries and free thinkers or sheep and conformists? It's important to allow people to express themselves. "Governments are judged not by the lack of dissent but how they treat the dissenters."- I don't really think it has to do with The US flag in particular. It's a statement about freedom from origins and nationalism. Apply reason.

All part of free speech.
So you might ask what can we do. I have one simple answer.
Transfer to another school
Do not buy any products that have there logo
Do not go to any sporting events
This is how we could change all this b---sh-t let our hard earned dollars speak.
Because as the school goes down so does the funding and then the school closes.

Well, I don't want schools to start closing down. That's punishment, not working it out.

They need to figure this out on their own. It is a free speech kind of thing. Likewise, I may exercise my freedom of speech by letting those students know that they are completely missing the point and probably not getting their parent's monies worth of education.
