So it should come as no surprise that as the U.S. military prepares to launch one of the largest training exercises in history later this month, many Bastrop, TX residents might suspect a secret Obama plot to spy on them, confiscate their guns and ultimately establish martial law in one of America’s proudly free conservative states. What do you think? are they just paranoid or what?

Understanding good order and discipline, I completely doubt that any SM would follow those orders. Seems to me if I wanted to install martial law, I wouldn't choose Texas.

If it were to happen, hypothetically, which State would you suggest? After all, Texas is the second largest US State after Alaska.

Hypothetically, you would have better luck taking someplace that doesn't have such a strong reputation as a free state. You'd need to look at demographic, density, and public infrastructure. Taking over an area with less of a chance of public revolt and with people less likely to fight back. It would have to be swift and silent. News media would jump on it so quick that public option would be the largest backlash. You'd also need to worry about supply lines in to quiet the population and get them focused on other things, like food, shelter and medical. Honestly I don't think it even possible to have all those variables in the U.S. to be able to accomplish that feet. You'd see other places in the U.S. rise up to protect their own regardless of views. Americans, while divided on many issues still will solidify together to protect one another, who ever it is that threatens their way of life. It's that bond that makes me proud to be unapologetically American.

Let's play devil's advocate? What if it were true? No, I'm not saying it's going to happen, I'm saying debate it as if it was an actual attempt to disarm the public.

Not a bad idea. It sure could get interesting Kirk! Let's do it! What would happen if the Order was given to disarm the public. What would you do as as Active Military Soldier if such an Order came down? How about you Commanders? What would you order your Troops to do? And finally, what would you NCO'S and Noncoms do?

There is only one correct answer.... Plenty of case law behind it. It is taught in Boot Camp, NCO Academy, SNCO Academy, OCS, Officer Basic School, Clearly Codified in the Constitution... No way to screw it up if you have an IQ over 05.... You can not obey an unlawful order and use the unlawful order as a defense for your crime....

Hypothetically, if this was to happen even though I don't believe it would I think that good U.S. Citizens in Texas would fight back until death. There aren't enough troops take over the rest of the states, and I hope that many troops would just refuse to hurt and impose illegal authority over citizens. I certainly would not play a part in it at all.

What should I read or not read on RP? My goodness! Just the idea of people thinking this way is unbelievable! I am still waiting to see POTUS risen as so-called anti-Christ... Now it seems like people are running out of imagination! What is the true foundation of all this fears? Please, look at that man and see how the welfare has so concerned him that he looks 20 years older after 7 years of presidency. One thing I can appreciate him for is the fact that he emphasized his foreign policy in enhancing the image of the U.S. Abroad, and he tried to rebuild our economy through the so controversial ACA. But because many have their eyes focused on their navels, it is hard to be optimistic. Through the ACA, I see resurgence of small businesses and fair economic landscape in America in the coming 10 years.

SPC (P) Joe Beyssac, I agree it is hard to be optimistic.... When a candidate for President talks about the outrageous "Pulling out a Credit Card, from the "Bank of China" and racking up such a debt is... He then wins the election, then doubles the existing debt by "Pulling out a Credit Card, from the Bank of China" in a single term.

I believe it was either that or print more $bills that will help devalue the $ in the future. Nobody wants inflation. And plus, politicians don't have the magic stick to change the economic data from a day to the other! President Obama inherited a lot from previous presidencies, and he is still trying his best to leave America with something that will fix the issues in the years to come.

They're incredibly paranoid. Governments generally don't need to conquer territories they already own.

I think that if it was tried, there would be another civil war. Personally, I think that they are paranoid conspiracy theorists.

I HAVE SEEN THE EVIDENCE OF OUR PRESIDENT FOLLOWING AN AGENDA TO MAKE THIS AN Islamic STATE. I ALSO know HE IS TRYING DESPERTLY TO DISARM THE PUBLIC.. I ALSO KNOW HE HAS ABATTERY OF 12 HIGH PRICED LAWYERS WORKING TO FIND A LOOP HOLE OR SOME WAY AROUND THE 2 ND AMENDMENT. YESTERDAY, HE ISSUED ANOTHER EXECUTIVE ORDER TO BANN MORE GUNS, ADDED MORE GUN RESTRICTIONS, & RESTRICT A LOT OF SALES THRU GUN SHOWS ,,,ALL IN THE NAME OF PUBLIC SAFETY I see what is happening in France, & in the UK. . I see him bring in up to 200,000 more Muslims , mainly from Syria. I see him refuse entry of many Christians that are being executed in the same area from where these muslims come from. he refuses to close our borders, he will not deport the illegals here now,, he is defending every Muslim that we have problems with.. He has installed so many Muslims in our higher levels of our government. His chief Advisor is a devout Muslim, the asst. head of homeland security is a devout Muslim, the recent report of the FBI just reported 72 employees of homeland security is all on the FBI's watch list, an are assumed Muslims. the list goes on & on.. what would you think if given this evidence in a court of law??? & for one more time I refer to the Americans & the Indian . The Americans came over here to have Freedom & personal rights away from Kings .They fought the Indians, they signed peace treaties with the Indians(then broke every one) the lied to them, they cheated them, they stole from them, they killed a lot of them till we won--- Nowit is our turn to be the Indian--- for here come the MUslims--- same scene --- different players -- Do we ever learn from history??? appearently Not.... Remember-- History has away of repeating it's self.....
