The media can only report information that the government puts out, so I don't know why everybody is always pointing the finger at the media. If the government doesn't want something in the media, it shouldn't be putting it out. It's not the government's job to censor the media, nor is it the media's job to censor the government.

MAJ Yinon Weiss good point. Probably is just politics as usual. Thank you for your insights! I would say though that the really bad guys in the group will probably be on high alert now. If I were them, I would be.

Sgt Mike Williams - I somehow get a feeling that the bad guys are hardly paying attention to this "news."

LTC Yinon Weiss, don't underestimate the intelligence and the resources of people whose lives depend upon knowing what is about to happen. The Mama-Sans always knew several days ahead of time when our Scrip was going to be changed, and they got GIs to change theirs for them. The Mexican illegals are also quite intelligent and able to watch out for themselves, in my experience.

I would agree, LTC Yinon Weiss, but why would the CURRENT government leak opsec material to the media that gives CRIMINAL aliens a heads-up? Why doesn't the CURRENT government hold citizens with higher esteem than CRIMINALs?

Should the media warn illegals of an impending raid?

Sure, why not! Just like the local media reports where the cops will have checkpoints for drunk drivers.

Loaded question.

Is it the Media warning illegals of impending raids?

or

Is it the Press reporting that DHS/CBP/ICE is ramping efforts of deportations of Undocumented Immigrants?

The way you "headline" the question changes the tone of the answer.

The Press has the Right to report activities of the Government (1a). They are part of the Oversight of the People. All of the People located in the US. Those People include Citizens, Residents, & Immigrants (both documented and undocumented). The Constitution is very clear on that (14a), as it says "any PERSON within its jurisdiction..." (emphasis added)

I agree and would add not only does the press have the right but it is their duty. It just seems to me that law breakers, terrorist, and other enemies of the U.S. too often are given aid and/or comfort by our media. I am all for free speach, but should the media consider how their reporting effects the security of our Nation?

The media is not oversight of the government, they are a wing of whatever party they affiliate with.

Sgt Mike Williams - It is absolutely a concern, and the PRESS should. Notice I very explicitly used that term above. The MEDIA is a different term entirely, and although we've taken to using them interchangeably, they are not the same.

The PRESS provides oversight. The MEDIA is a profit generating organization with it's own interests which is outside that of the People or the Government. We are Products to them. Unfortunately, more and more of our PRESS has become MEDIA.

Might encourage some to return to their Country of Origin Voluntarily. I understand though what the Media might be trying to do and I understand that too. Stir up Peoples feeling of Compassion and Support to Prevent tearing apart families. Teachings in Most Holy Books Torah, Bible, Quran to treat the Foreigner in your mist as one of you seems to go by the way side at the drop of a hat and there are Plenty that Spew Hate and Fear of Others. Hitler had the Jews and Gypsys. Americans have the Latin Americans and the Muslims.

The media has become a showboat ratings monster that does what it can to promote an agenda and keep it's ratings to keep advertising dollars coming in.

In some cases I think that members of the media should be deported along with their beloved illegals.

Years ago, there was a drug-related incident at the Mall of America where the shooter happened to be illegal working at a now-defunct restaurant. INS decided to take a closer look, and surprise, surprise, found a number of illegal workers at the establishment. Somebody at INS got the bright idea that they should post a warning that systematic enforcement was going to occur at MOA in the coming week. Overnight, 30% of the MOA's employees disappeared... in the middle of November... leaving the Mall in pretty dire straights during the shopping season.
I went to an Employee meeting a couple weeks later where I was listening with interest on how the GM of the MOA location was scrambling at under 50% staffing and asking to borrow help from nearby locations. Two GMs from the area agreed to help, sharing a look.
"I guess now we know why we got over 100 applications last week."

Did the "systematic enforcement" ever occur or, was it the Gov't putting the word out so that already strained INS resources didn't have to actually carry out the operation?

I don't think it did, Sgt Mike Williams. It looked like the situation resolved itself.
