Wake up folks, this has been going on as long as multiple governments have existed around the globe. Even current leaders do this, why not former ones? Take the steps to protect your information.

Well, most seem to think foreign influence is a bad thing. Just look at the posts about Russia. But, in reality I think one has to be naive to think that is does not happen.
