The Shiite militia created a rift w/ the Sunni militia by naming the counter-offensive against Ramadi "Labaik Ya Hussein", which translates to "we are at your service, Hussein." This is a reference to the grandson of Mohammed, the lineage that the Shias follow.

Reminds me of Reservoir Dogs - 'Why do I got to be Mr. Pink?"

That choice of names was no accident.
It was a declaration of righteous war by the Shia Militias. To assert dominance in the name of Hussein is to attempt to subjugate the area to Shia.
They knew exactly what they were doing. And it puts Sunni members of the IA units operating in conjuction with the militias in a very difficult position.

I think this is another example of the problem with Political Correctness. The Iraqi Defense Force is neither a force or doing much defending of anything. If there is a militia willing and able to fight, support the militias, tribes, and people who are actually fighting these monsters and stop worrying abut the feeling of the cowards and sheeple.

Shiite Militia creates rift in the Iraqi Defense Force. Why is it so hard for them to come together to end a mutual enemy?

Iraq is a very tribal country. They rather fight each other before fighting a common enemy.

As Americans we have great difficulty understanding tribal culture. We talk about it a lot and act like we're educated on the subject but then we act so surprised when we see tribal nepotism and we see tribes aligned along sectarian lines put the health of their tribe above the health of their nation. This is simple---they're fighting for their tribes; the sheik calls the side and the boys line up. There's a reason many AQ members called Bin Laden the Sheik.

I've said it before and I'll say it again (even though it is incredibly unpopular to say it).

The only Iraqi leader who had the slightest chance of preventing the al-Qa'eda/Taliban/ISIS problem in Iraq was Saddam Hussein.

The progressive Iraqis had developed means of coping with his rule and were prepared to kill of whichever one of his sons survived when Saddam Hussein died (from whatever cause).

Like them or not, at least the Ba'athists knew that there was a whole lot more money to be made from graft and corruption in a (reasonably) peaceful country with a functioning national government that the majority of the people were prepared not to revolt against.

because once again the west is not looking at it from the only ppl that matter in the fake states of iraq and Syria. the local people.

Sunnis arabs want their own nation in both fake nations. period. they don't want to live in a Shia majorty control Iraq. they damn sure don't want to live under a Shia minority in Syria. the sunni arab milita hate the Iraqi (Shia) govt, and Shia militia.

the worst thing we can do is allow iranian back groups to fight in Iraq. it just pushes ppl into Daesh camp.

If we only had a time machine we could go back & stop Sikes-Picot. However, we would then have to figure out another way to keep the Middle East out of WWI.

Don't you just love the hubris of some people? They draw arbitrary lines on a map and declare that everyone inside of each section are now citizens of a sovereign nation and should share common interests. Idiots. Not the people inside the lines. The ones who drew them. The only possible "fix" for that region of the world is to allow the various groups to sort themselves out (allow birds of a feather to flock together) and then allow their borders to draw themselves. Also, recognize that this will be a very painful process (especially since we set them up in artificial nations that bore no relation to reality and now muddy the water...
