I have been with Rally Point for a good while. I have seen some great leaders provide some great advice. I can honestly thank many out there from a E-2 Vet to a Retired COL. Maybe it is just me but I am beginning to question much of the content here. Some of us are thinking it and I will take the unpopular stance and say this.

When it comes to Points I couldn't care less. If someone wants all my point you could gladly have them. I would rather be known for my development of others, shared knowledge, questioning even the most basic logic in the military, and not for some Meme. I do enjoy them but if I seen another question about a Meme I may have to take a hiatus. I have Facebook and Instagram for that.

I have learned so much here and would like things to stay that way. A quick why to lose some is have to find the real discussions about real issues that affect the military among Which meme is your favorite when you are sitting at CQ.

I like to have fun but I fear that this may get out of hand. Or maybe I am being a Donnie Downer. The latest trend is the "New Reporters" and the "Link Posters." I come here for the intellectual content. I will post a link but as I have been told in my discussions my content really is the driving the factor and the link is my reference. It is like when you write a paper for college on a book you. You just don't rip out a page and turn those in. To me they are just low information posters that offer little to no intellectual content. I don't even know if they know it to be honest. It is something that concerns me as a member.

I think we need a balance between the fun stuff and the serious stuff, but lately, I've noticed a lot more "fun stuff" vs. serious discussions.

Also, there's been quite a few topics lately (mainly revolving around religion & politics) that got a little "hotter" that they probably should have gotten.

I think you should have made this a survey to really get the feel across the RP community.

Methinks he's gonna drop this bombshell, throw out a few replies then go on hiatus.

It's all part of his master plan to stay #1 out of all 1LTs.

Hunter - I totally agree with you. That release is necessary and I enjoy participating in the goofy stuff on here. I just see issues with the word "professional", when you throw that out there you're pretty much stomping out any fun. I agree that we all need to respect each other but, when someone starts talking bad about women, God, officers, NCOs, etc. you can expect a violent backlash and disrespect.

I also LT Rosa's point about flooding the feed with useless nonsense or news articles I read on my homepage every morning (some are well worth discussing, majority are not).

Anyway I met you on here so this site is A OK in my book! :)

CPT (Join to see), same here with the point system. It's interesting, but not vital. I'd like to stay with the "thumbs up/down" thing. Gets us talking.
Mass taggers? I like this option. I've never used it to the fabulous capacity that some RPrs have, but I understand the function. Personally, if I am in a situation where I need some specific expertise, I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

And if the memes were outlawed, I'd have bad days. And if I have bad days, my classes suck. And if my classes suck, I get bad grades. And if I get bad grades, I won't graduate. If I don't graduate, I can't get a good job. If I can't get a good job, I can't continue my internet. If I can't continue my internet...you, Sir, are to blame for my lack of future ability to purchase OCP camo for my Lotus.
Live with that, and may it haunt you.

Sir, if I am ever in a position to obtain a Lotus, my life will have become a meme.

I don't like the mass tagging simply because people use it to 1) game the influence score by mentioning others names [also hoping they'll get upvotes from the people they tagged], AND 2) drag people into their fights.

In the big scheme of things, the influence score doesn't matter. If a person has too high an influence score, it tells you they spend wayyyy too much time on the computer.

Capt Jeff S., I have no doubt this has happened. Personally, I don't know of anyone specific who was motivated by "up-votes", but could definitely see it occurring. Number two is absolutely plausible. Actually, "mass tagging" has been used for this reason more than the former, in my opinion. Still, I wouldn't want to see the option removed. Personally, if I am attempting to get feedback on a subject, I want to be able to tag the RP members who could best answer the question, and with urgency. After all, networking is behind the RP concept.
The only thing that "influence score" means, at least to me, is that this individual is open to communication. He or she is more visible, and therefore, more accessible.
My concerns lie with the "unverified members". And, honestly, the influence score is a filter of sorts. Even this site is not immune to trolls, Sir.

I almost missed this thread because it was buried in pictures. First of all, I love your influence score picture. Well done. It's pretty close to reality. Everyone knows how serious I am and don't like to joke around too much. So maybe I'm the wrong guy to comment. This is evident in my recent back and forth with MAJ (Join to see) . If you find a way to game the system, then go for it. Just don't be mad when someone makes you aware of their displeasure about your tactics.
I like a balance, but I don't like flooding and losing good information from an endless array of jokes or pictures.
It is also annoying to be questioned about professionalism in the same thread where posts that are clear SHARP violations are posted by the same said person.

Sorry, I can't help it. You are such striking young man. But I see what you are saying about navigation all the MEMEs discussions out there. I recall how RP was back in the day but things always change.

SFC Mark Merino Now I feel like I OG Rallypoint. Back in my day, when RP first had discussions...... But over time you could see the point game start up. If someone wants points so bad they can take mine in exchange for not posting for a month.

Set me to zero as well. I just want things to go back to a professional military network, not military facebook. Blocking the general category isn't an option for us retired members. I rarely post threads outside of it. Members who have been retired for decades have a hard time discussing modern military issues. Sometimes I feel like I left facebook for facebook jr.
