Gen. Joseph Dunford expects all Marine units to be "physically and mentally ready" to deploy anywhere, at any time, he said in planning guidance released last month. But instead of having every platoon, company and battalion involved in constant training for everything, he has outlined broad responsibilities for each of the three Marine Expeditionary Forces. This rebalance will help address shortfalls in personnel, equipment and training in nondeployed units, he said.

I admire his vision and potential changes/advances for the Corps. I still have my culture shock moments as I transition from my Air Force years to my supporting Marines as a DON Civilian, but the Corps is resilient and will make anything happen.

The more I read about GEN Dunford, the more impressed I am with this senior leader. It seems he has a vision for the Marine Corps, and he is all about implementing his vision. In one story after another - primarily here on RallyPoint - I've read how GEN Dunford plans to revamp the USMC to be even more relevant and ready. I say the Marines are lucky to have such able leadership at the top.
