On your ASK, what exactly does "Volunteer for Overseas Contingency Operations" mean?

I was updating my ASK recently after I came home from deployment and saw the volunteer tab. I clicked on it and I saw "overseas contingency operations volunteer". I'm assuming this means to waive dwell time and volunteer to deploy again. Can I get some clarification? Also, if you were to volunteer for this.. would you be reassigned to the gaining unit? I would just like to get some information on how this process works. Thanks!

It doesn't relate to a DWELL waiver. It simply is a heads up to your assignment manager that you are looking to head across the pond.

I've been looking for more information on WIAS, but cannot find too much on it. Can you point me in the right direction, SGM Mike Barbieri ? Thank you.

Really that will have to be taken up with your CoC. WIAS taskers for SFC and below are handled by the ACOMs. HRC Career Branches handle MSG taskers and SGM Branch handles all taskers for the E9 grade.
