77-year-old Jane Fonda was at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick for a speaking engagement Friday.
Fonda told the audience she made a "huge mistake'' that led many to think she was against soldiers fighting in Vietnam, and it's something that she'll take to her grave. She says she understands their anger and that it makes her sad.
Fonda drew the ire of many Americans when she visited North Vietnam at the height of the Vietnam War, leading some to call her "Hanoi Jane.''

In recent years, Jane Fonda has more vocally apologized for her actions during the Vietnam War, which led many to call her "Hanoi Jane". Many Veterans say her actions are unforgivable and on par with treason against the USA.

There was a saying, "at least she went to Vietnam". Which meant she did more than to cowards who had Bone Spurs or Anal Cysts, or even pooped their pants. When the government gave amnesty to those who left the country I gave up

I've forgiven Vietnam. I just don't have that much hate in me. Every day someone has to post this bleep, don't they ever get tired of it

The scriptures reveal that Christ commands all men to forgive for we all wish to be forgiven for those sins that lead us astray. Nevertheless, as a Vietnam veteran, that commandment is difficult to hold so I must try to do that.

Just lip service of a different kind. Too many people thought she was doing a good thing. This was
not a humanitarian mission; could have been if she avoided the contact with North Vietnamese military.

Nothing she says can bring those that died due to her actions back to life.

I am a post Vietnam era Navy veteran. I view her actions during the Vietnam War as collaborating with the enemy. Every time I am reminded of her and those like her I see it as treason. That being said, I grew up watching the Vietnam War and its protest on the evening news. Politics ran the war and its effects definitely affected the morale of our servicemen. I served with active duty personnel who served in Vietnam and I have the highest respect for their duty in Vietnam and high disdain for their treatment by the citizenry of our country. I would look on Jane Fonda more favorably if she actively involved herself in support of our veterans, but I don't see any.. I believe the power of forgiveness so therefore I forgive her, however I can not condone her actions and will not forget it.

Hate is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies.
That is the reason I forgive, although the offense was not against me, but against an earlier generation.
Anything she says falls on deaf ears.
