I saw the posts about the drawing event throughout RP, looks like they stirred the hive, not that it is too surprising. Apparently ISIS has threatened the man hosting the event and loosely threatened attendees with an alleged IED attack. I am all for freedom of speech but I am also for common sense which doesn't seem to be used here. What say you people of Rally Point?

My inner hippy warrior asks a simple question, "What message am I sending to my children by endorsing this event?" Am I trying to say that you shuld participate in things that are disrespectful to others just because I can? Am I being part of the solution or part of the problem? What good will this do for my fellow man? Just because the constitution gives me the freedom to do something doesn't mean I have to do it. We are in the headlines all around the world looking like a bunch of schoolyard bullies and they now get to play the persecution and victim card. Why? Because we have the constitutional right to do this? To prove that we are not going to be bullied by anyone? I'd rather organize an event that brings us together as members of the human race. This is not a step in the right direction. Just my .02 Regards, Uncle Mark

ISIS beheads Christians. That is pretty offensive to me for sure. Some Americans want to make some Muhammad cartoons which ISIS and other Muslims finds really offensive. Why isn't anyone doing anything about ISIS beheading Christians?

SGT Jerrod Sprague, I don't think enough is being done to ISIS or they would have been stopped before taking over another town.

We should not live our lives in fear. We should not bow down to threats or terrorists. If we do then they win. While I am of the opinion that this event is offensive, it is protected speech as long as they do it lawfully. If an incident happens, the evil doer is to blame not the event coordinator or attendees. We need to stop trying deflect blame from those who wish us harm. I think the event coordinator calling for armed people is a prudent move given the incident in TX as long as those who do, do so in a lawful manner.

SSG (Join to see) so you're cool with the Muslims being violent with the attendees because it's not common sense. I don't care if they get mad, but it should never be ok to bring violence!

Please indicate where I said it was okay to respond with violence. Nothing like that was said or even hinted at.

SSG (Join to see) You are saying that this is "Incitement" and you imply that they are not using their rights wisely, which sounds amazingly like giving an excuse for violence. If they did bring an IED to the protest would you condemn it or say "they asked for it"? Your other comments in other areas agree to the later.

I am at a loss. I don't understand where I am advocating violence anywhere. I was not one of the many on this question that implied the event attendees are asking to be murdered. Here is the definition of incite if you do not understand. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/incite. No where does it say anything about justification, but it does talk about stirring and encouraging.
I will stand by the comment that they are not being wise. I know freedom of speech is protected in the Constitution that I am sworn to defend, but notwithstanding I would not go around Fayetteville, NC calling every black person I saw a nigger. Though it's my right, it's not wise and benefits no one. It's also incitement. When a black person swings at me for calling them a nigger are they justified? No, but it's still not the best thing for me to do.

Incite definition, to stir, encourage, or urge on; stimulate or prompt to action: to incite a crowd to riot. See more.

It's unlikely the influence of Daesh (ISIL) extends far beyond the odd malcontent in this country. Mounting any sort of coordinated attack within the US, without first alerting the massive spy apparatus that "watches over us" seems unlikely.

Instead of having Muhammad cartoon contests, I am willing to support what ISIS like to do with pretty little goat depictions but not full on graphic representations.

Draw away! We shouldn't have to live in fear for a drawing. If someone drew Jesus, I WOULDN'T MURDER PEOPLE!

SSG (Join to see) Please write a comment to back up your down vote. When you do that It makes you look like you can't bring a counter argument when you disagree. I love open discussion and debate but "hit and runs" don't bring conversation to others, including us.

I don't agree with your premise SFC James. (advocating for violence where it isn;t needed is foolish, incredibly so) But I do agree with your point on the drive by down-votes.
