Two questions. I'm currently on orders for Korea this summer and have been putting off a much-needed surgery that could ultimately put me out the army. (1) Does anyone have experience of a MEB in Korea?
I have a necrotic scaphoid fracture that failed it's last surgery 2 years ago and has been giving me pain ever since. At this point I'm looking at a bone removal or a wrist fusion. (2) Would this even be a surgery I could get while in Korea?

Why are you deferring medical treatment? If it ends in an MEB, it ends in an MEB. Go get the surgery and get as much quality of,life back as you can.
Korea may not have medical capabilities to do this.

I've already been through the whole MAR2 process and was a tanker and actually just recently graduated RT school..and because of all of the COVID-19 stuff all of ortho here in Fort Sam are only seeing emergency cases only so I'm kinda screwed and have to push my issues on the next command. I've been in little over 9 years now LTC Jason Mackay

SGT(P) (Join to see) - when is your report date? This ship may have sailed already. Never say never, but if you just reclassed, I don't see that as an option. Have you completed your POM packet? You have to POM when you PCS overseas. Part of it is medical readiness.

So our report dates changed like three times in the past month. Originally I was supposed to report June 10th, after we brought up the MILPER message to our chain and that we were seeing new dates of September 1st on our ASK, two days later it changed to July 10th (kinda skitchy but OK). So I've already been cleared from medical and couldn't get a official POM since I am leaving withing 60 days. The most I was able to do was sit in front of a PA and go back over imaging and reconfirm how messed up my wrist is. That was when back in April when all this was ramping up. I actually tried exchanging orders with a fellow student who wanted to go to Korea, but our branch manager wasn't having it. LTC Jason Mackay

SGT(P) (Join to see) - have you tried again? Your report changed and the COVID emergency has come down

You would have to medically be cleared to even PCS to Korea. Take care of you first!! Everyone in the Army can be replaced on the job or position, however, you as an individual cannot be replaced to your love ones.
Waiting to have your surgery makes whatever is going on with you worse. Don’t put yourself in a position where you’re being told “if you would have fame in sooner you would have had a better outcome”. Take care of yourself, whatever is meant for YOU will be for YOU!!!
