Is anyone here an AMEDD recruiter or have experience with direct commission? I have some questions about the process.

I just finished my MSW and am interesting in returning to the Guard or Reserve through Direct Commission. I am a former enlisted Army Guardsman. I know that you need an LCSW to get in as a full social worker. Can I come in as some kind of behavioral health officer or health administration officer? Is it better to wait until I have the LCSW (and come in at a higher rank)?

You can be brought in as a 70B until you accrue the clinical hours needed.

SPC Gabriel Botero Jr., MSW, LCSW - You are welcome talk to the officer recruiter in your state. Right now is a really good time to be in behavioral health. Good Luck

Sir,
Where did you here this from? Not saying you are incorrect as things can happen but I've been this business for 14yrs and I have not seen that one. Find me on global and let's chat, I'm sure that's a story.

You need your LCSW to be eligible for a DA as a 73A. We do have the SWIP program for Regular Army.

SWIP is a one time a year board. It stands for Social Worker Internship Program. If you have completed your MSW you are able to apply. You would be commissioned as a 1LT and complete your supervision on Active Duty, take the licensing exam and then earn you LCSW. You would then serve for a short time on Active Duty. After your obligation is complete you could choose to continue your service of ETS. I would contact an AMEDD recruiter in your area.

SPC Gabriel Botero Jr., MSW, LCSW I had a friend who went AMEDD as a registered Nurse at ODU in Norfolk. It was a two year program. Got more info coming your way.

I want to do the same thing. I have my MSW. I see the airforce reserves you don't necessarily have to be an LCSW. https://afreserve.com/clinical-social-worker
