Couldn't agree more. I'm in my 8th year working for the Ingram family. This is my family now, similar to how the military was.

Sgt. Doyle, I would recommend you start at IngramBarge.com. On the right side of the screen you'll see the links to apply. You can go two routes with Ingram - Marine Side or Shore Side. As an ex-Navy guy, I began my career as a Marine associate working on the boats. I've since moved shore side. My recommendation for anyone trying to hire in is to get your foot in the door. The initial position you take may not be your dream job; however, the culture is such that associates are encouraged to seek out opportunities which best suit their strengths.

Great to hear this from a fellow Air Force veteran! Sgt Thomas Montgomery Curious, how was the transition from airpower to seapower?

Actually, it's not sea power, but river power. Very interesting actually. I've discovered that the river industry is the most economical and environmental friendly mode of transportation.

Good to connect with you Captain.

Yes they are. I have worked with them for 15 years. They are a great company and a strong supporter of hiring anyone with a military background! If anyone out there needs a job I would recomend them as well.

SGT Jonathan Bond - I've heard a lot of great things about the company myself. Noticed you are a Pilot with Ingram. How long of a training process was that for you to get certified?

I worked on deck for 12 years before deciding to get my license. I went to inland waterways academy in Huntington WV for 2 weeks to study and take my coast guard exams (which my company paid for) and after passing and receiving my steersmans license I had to wait 2 years to get in my company's steersmans program then it took 2 years of on the job training to get my upgrade to pilot and turned loose. It sounds like a long process but it was one of the best desicions I have ever made! The pay is awesome, the time off is great and it's not to different than the military ie, chain of command, comrodery with your crew, etc.
