Bio
I have over 25 years human resources background. My career began after my military separation. As a veteran's work-study, I went to college on the G.I. Bill and obtained a government funded work study program where I worked as a Jobs interviewer at the Kentucky State Employment office. I worked into a full-time position as a Program Coordinator for Vets.
Thoughout my educational career I have taught. I began my teaching career at local business schools (CareerCom Business School), advanced to community colleges (Jefferson Community College, Lousiville, KY) and eventually became an adjunct instructor at Murray State University. All of these were part-time jobs, but something I enjoyed and will resume upon retiring from my current position.
Military Experiences
Feb 1980 - Jul 1982
Security Police
The unit I was attached to was not a law enforcement unit. There mission was to provide support for the tankers. I went to a number of schools, but never deployed with this unit.
Dec 1975 - Dec 1979
Telecommunications Specialist
I was assigned to a mobile air base. We would deploy to combat zones and set up tactical facilities to support military operations (ATC and communications primarily).
Deployments
(1 year, 6 months)Jun 1979 - Aug 1979
Ft. Lewis, WA
My god, what country. Absolutely beautiful. We set up a field communication site on the base and stayed in barracks. This was shortly after the birth of my son. I was thier 60-days. From the base you could see Mt. Ranier. Spectacular mountains.
Feb 1977 - Apr 1977
South Korea
I was sent TDY to Osan for a military exercise, operation Team Spirit. GREAT assignment. We set up a field communication center on the base, so we stayed in officer housing. My wife was active duty we me, and we deployed together. While there, we discovered she was pregnant with my son. I have fond memories of Jenny throwing up in a bingjo ditch.
May 1977 - Jun 1977
29 Palms Marine Corps Base, CA
Whew, this was a hot one. 129 degrees in the sun. Field conditions. It was a joint military exerices with the Marines, Army, and USAF. 30 days in the field. Fun, fun, fun.
Aug 1977
Ft. Stewart, GA
I was assigned with my wife to the Base Communication Center. Savannah is a beautiful city. My wife and I deployed together, but we stayed in separate barracks. This wasn't a bad assignment.
