I am a PFC and have 1 year 8 months TIS and 8 months TIG and I have recently gotten an article 15. Its been 2 weeks since then and I haven’t received the paperwork for it so I’m unsure of the exact disciplinary actions that will take place but I have been told that I will most likely get 45 days, pay reduced, and loss of rank. I don’t know how many tanks I’ll lose whether it be to PV2 or fuzzy but that is my concern. I don’t mind the extra duty or the reduced pay. I’m just wondering how long it will take to make it back to PFC and onward to specialist. Before all of this I was being looked at to waiver but because of this I won’t.

If you are reduced your TIG starts over at zero on the date of reduction and you will not be eligible for waivers.

Based on what you wrote, if you received and Article 15 with rank reduction, then your DOR would have started that day and you would been reduced to PV2 that very day. If it has been two weeks since the reading/administering of the Article 15 but you haven't been reduced, then chances are your loss of rank has been suspended. Which means that you need to keep your nose clean until the Article 15 period is over. Same with the Restrictions, loss of pay and extra duty. Have you stood in front of your Commander to have the Article 15 read to you, yet?

SGT (Join to see) - You sound like you have the right attitude towards this. Learn from your mistake and move forward. I got busted from E5 to E4 and still made E7 before I got commissioned. I had an old SGM tell me once that if you didn't have at least 1 Article 15 then you were a do nothing NCO. lol

SGT (Join to see) MSG Krotzer ran afoul of the company commander in Korea in 1955. After a severe ass chewing and threats from the CDR, Krotzer cut the bottom rocker from several sets of his fatigues with the sew-on stripes.

Krotzer also became a hard ass! After about a month, not having received any reduction orders, he started wearing other fatigues with all three rockers.

Hang in, hang tough and Do Not make any waves or say anything unless feel you really must.

PVT (Join to see) no, the ETS date does not change....unless your new DOR will cause the next promotion date to fall AFTER your RCP date for the new current rank.

Start the clock over from the day you lose the rank. Pretty simple. If you turn yourself around and work amazingly and stuff you may be eligible for a waiver. But it's back to the 6 months as an E2, 1 year as a PFC

Thank you SFC! It’s unfortunate I put myself in the position for this to happen but I will learn from this and work harder than before to ensure I prove to my platoon and leadership that this is only a minor setback.

SGT (Join to see) - Soldiers who have been reduced are not eligible for waivers for promotion. You will have to do the full TIG for each rank starting at zero on the date of your reduction.
