I have heard of IA (individual augmentee) positions for certain deployments, but from my understanding that is when a unit requests someone (not specific) from a specialized unit to come on the deployment. Is it possible for active duty soldiers to volunteer to deploy? I know around Fort Bragg specifically there is a lot of trading that can take place prior to a deployment. Is there an official way to make yourself available or is it all just who you know at the right time? ***EDIT*** I am active duty, so the programs for the Guard and Reserve will most likely not help.

Talk to your S1 about a WIAS or Worldwide Individual Augmentee System tasker

COL (Join to see) That sounds like a great recommendation, sir. I've never heard of that particular program. The problem I keep running into is most of the programs that allow people to volunteer for deployments are reserve programs.

Go onto the Guard and Reserves Tour of Duty website and submit your application with a resume, pics of certificates and others. With your rank you have avery good chance.

Thank you for the response, COL Randy Alicea . Will this still work if I am in active duty?

COL Randy Alicea , those guys get all the fun. I have a friend in the Guard who is on his third deployment and we've been in for almost the same amount of time. He jumps in with deploying units from all around the state whenever there is an opening.

What you need to do is talk to your Squad Leader and PLT Sgt of your eagerness to deploy. They might help you. Good luck buddy and god bless.

I'd say bring it up to your chain of command and S1 'cause there may be a need for your MOS in some of the deploying units within Bragg. If no luck then request Korea, which is the closest tour to a deployment. Good luck
