A leader is someone who can convince others to do what they otherwise would not.
A leader can get the most out of each team member, and get them to strive towards the same goals.
A leader can find a way to motivate others to reach their potential.
A leader sets goals that are obtainable and further the organization's objectives.
A leader is fair and objective when administering correction and praise.
A leader puts others' needs ahead of their own.

A dedicated team player who takes initiative and assumes responsibility for his actions and the actions of his team. Setting the standards by doing and allowing others the chance to lead and if they fail, making sure they are picked up, brushed off and taught to carry on. Some of my best and hardest lessons came as a failed attempt, learn from it and grow, don't let it tear you down.

A manager will push (power) you to get results. A leader will pull (influence) you to achieve those same results. A manager has subordinates whereas a leader has followers. A true leader will use their position to empower others.

1SG Michael Blount I'm sure they know they're in a shit storm when Top's mad. Our medics sure did. They knew he had a soft side for the platoon, but it just made the rain fall down harder when it was time to pay the piper.

MAJ (Join to see) - yah, my Privates know when I'm mad. So do my Drills. I just remember with the Drills to praise in public, criticize in private. That doesn't apply to Privates. They haven't earned that right. For the most part, they get the short leash from Zero Day until Graduation.
