How can I convince my unit not to deploy me right before I am supposed to attend recruiting school?

Long story short I am getting deployed about 60 days before I go to recruiting school for roughly 3-6 weeks. This seems completely non sensible to me. I am going through a divorce also which makes things even worse. The unit is telling me if I find a regulation stating that I have to be back XX days before school then they will leave me back. I find it almost laughable that a group of 1SG's and a CSM wouldn't know that. Does anyone know of anything that will help?

With that attitude..if you display the same at your unit, you should plan on deploying.
Many times there are self earned and valid reasons leadership is unwilling to do more then hand out a length of rope...leaving the SM to us it in a self destructive manner...vice pulling themselves up.
You might also want to look up the phrase "Selfless service"
In any case, they gave you an out....if you're willing to do the research and see if it exists. I know of no such regulation that supports your whining...errrr, ummmm request to stay at home while your unit deployed. But do the leg work, and find it if it is.

SGM Erik Marquez
SGT Alan Dike - The same is true for most schooling. However, DS, Recruiter & AIT PSG have been a no deferment, no deletion school at times where there is NO choice on the units part including deployment. It just depends on the needs of the Army and what the SMA and other senior leaders have decided currently.. Likely there is a message out on this. A little research on SOMEONE'S part that has a vested interest might turn up such a document

SSG (Join to see) - First, sorry to hear about the divorce. That's stressful, even under the best of circumstances. That said, your snarky comment to SGM Marquez is just unprofessional. Full stop. Hence, the down vote. Dig deep. I believe there is more inside you than this.

Have you tried calling the school house? Or HRC? More often than not, they are the SME's that can best answer this.

The laughable thing is that you presume the 1SGs and CSM don't know what is going on.
If your unit is due to deploy and your MOS is a shortage they can request that your recruiter school be deferred until after the deployment, Same with leadership schools.
While unpleasant for leaders as well as troops school deferments for deployments were pretty common.
