I just came across this News article. Needless to say the actions of the security guard really pisses me off?

Have any of you come across someone that is "offended" by your uniform or military service?

I had a German National Tell me his Grand Father had been SS, and that the Americans should go home. I told him if his grandfather had done his job right we would not be here.

That is obviously a quite interesting anecdote, certainly, definitely most unusual, I'd never heard one quite like that before...like the others here said, I gather he must've loved your retort, which was by all means apt, to say the least...odd how that sort of mindless, insane gibberish will last to the third generation, when those insane monsters lost, as was clearly deserved, of course...my wife's Dad walked through a minefield in Petite Hetange, France, during the crossing of the Moselle River, in the Battle of Nancy, while he'd been an artillery battery commander in the Tough Hombres 90th Div., attached to Gen. Patton, he'd gotten a Bronze at the time, we were able to get it upgraded on his headstone to a Bronze with combat "V", he stood right out in the open while the Germans were shelling from the German side of the river, while his battery was shelling back, plus, all that was after having walked through the minefield to get back to them, as he'd gotten separated, we were actually able to have NPRC in St. Louis get us a copy of the actual general orders where he was given the Bronze originally, we also have the handwritten penciled copy of the Bronze recommend by his Lt Col written the day it happened, my mother-in-law showed it to us, my wife and I, one day awhile back...also, my uncle, my Dad's sister's husband, I've related this before, had been a radio operator in the 3118th Signal Svc Battalion/Grp, he'd actually seen Gen Eisenhower at Hq SHAEF at Southwick House in the UK before D-Day, as well as Churchill, Montgomery, Bradley, Marshall, Capt Kay Summersby, and Sgt Mickey Keogh, when the Germans surrendered at the little red schoolhouse in Rheims, Germany, he saw Jodl driven in with all the others, then, after the surrender, he helped send the actual VE Day surrender Telex, which, amusingly, he actually swiped a flimsy copy of as a souvenir, which my first cousins, his kids, still actually have in a safe deposit box...after he was sent home, he went to Columbia Univ on the GI Bill, and, when he got his diploma, Gen Eisenhower, who was president of Columbia at the time before he got elected, had been giving out the diplomas on the steps of the main Columbia library...most of the grads were obviously GI Bill ex-GIs, who, of course, just got their diplomas, perfunctorily, without saying a word to the General...my uncle, who'd been known as his unit's comedian, both during all their travels from the UK across Europe, as well as during the occupation of Germany, when his unit had been at the taken-over corporate IG Farben Hq. Bldg. (the war criminal company that'd done a lot of really nasty stuff involving the camps), when his name was called for his diploma, walked up to Gen. Eisenhower as well as the aide with the diplomas, and said, "Gen., I don't know if you'd remember me, I was in the 3118th commo trailer next to yours at Southwick House"....needless to say, the diploma aide was positively aghast at my uncle's sheer temerity...the Gen looked at the aide, who shrugged his shoulders, then turned back to my uncle, squinting through his pince-nez metal-rimmed glasses, then said, "Oh, yeah, you were that funny little SSgt who I'd always see by the other trailer"...my uncle said "Yes, sir"...then the Gen said..."Oh, congrats, here's your diploma, have a nice day"...God, I just love telling that story...they'd have loved your retort to the German, that was why I'd figured you'd get a kick out of hearing both anecdotes, enjoy....

I once had a TSA agent try to confiscate my ribbons and nametag while flying on orders in my blues with the excuse that the pins on the back were weapons. Luckily the supervisor was still in possession of common sense and put a quick end to the situation.

As far as the uniform being offensive, I don't care. Anyone who doesn't like it is not someone I want to associate with anyway.

I had to appear in a County Court once and the County Attorney told me to be in Uniform, this was long after I retired and I informed him that the only one I still had was my Dress Blues, He told me that is even better. So I did and guess what the Rent-a-Cop security guard at the Court House Doo told my I would have to remove my Uniform Blouse and send it thru the X-Ray Machine within a Second there were three Uniform County Deputy Sheriffs there to inform him that that was not going to happen.

I had a TSA idiot try to take my CIB shaped key FOB ... because you know it’s a gun. Told him to get his supervisor. I asked if any of them ever served.

If I had known that anyone was offended by the wearing of my uniform, it would have pleased me greatly.

I live in a fairly liber part of Colorado and take great pleasure in wearing mine on all Federal Holidays just to see the look on some of the faces around this County.
