I am a US Army Soldier that will be deploying with an Air Force Expeditionary unit. I will be working in the ASOC and will not have an Army counterpart. I know that I am not the first to do this and am curious about other's experiences; non-Army rater/senior rater/reviewer for NCOER, end-of-tour award, SSI-FWTS, etc.

I did a lot of joint service time. I rated Army, Marine, and Air Force Officers and one Navy Petty Officer First Class. I asked the service members to explain their rating system. Also to tell me pitfalls in the system where I could accidentally screw them by using a wrong word. I reviewed the evaluation time line with the J1 section for that service. I hope your evaluator will do some of these same things. As an E6 you may have an E8 or E9 rater with an officer senior rater. You’ll be representing your Service. Once you get to know the unit a little have the rating conversation with your rater. Make sure they understand the Army system, deadlines, and formats

You're going with the Air Force? Hell you got it made! No disrespect intended to the Air Force. I love them. Whenever there was a war, they gave us a ride. Seriously, learning another service and working with them is a good experience. Soak up all you can.

I've been on joint tours with the Army. I suggest you keep a list of accomplishments. Be ready to draft your own NCOER and awards

Thank you for the response. The Squadron has been very supportive and it seems like they have done this before (had Army personnel assigned to them). Still, I am fully prepared to do what I need to do to stay administratively on top of things (e.g. NCOER bullets, award write-up, accomplishments, etc.).
