What punishment would you think would be fitting? Should the Navy take away his trident? Can they?

This falls into the "just goes to show you" category for me, LTC (Join to see). Anyone can be tempted by greed. This is a classic example. Kind of a mini-version of Bernie Madoff. He should spend many, many years behind bars for this.
Let's hope he doesn't blame PTSD for ripping off his friends as brutally as he did.

From the article.
"According to a pretrial services report, Mullaney claimed that in 2008 he was diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD and schizophrenia, and is currently on several medications. His psychiatric evaluation is not public."

Exactly, Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS, that's why I made the comment. If he does claim PTSD as a defense, I think it's a slap in the face of and an insult to others who suffer from PTSD.

CW5 (Join to see), unfortunately what we have here is a scumbag. A scumbag who will any and every defense he can think of.

I know they say "there is always one", but I never expected "one" to be a SEAL!
