We built a interstate system crisscrossing our nation, so I don't see why a fence would be a problem. If it were up to me, I'd make the illegals build it.

SGT (Verify To See) Not slave labor. There are currently chain gangs made up of inmates from the Maricopa County, Arizona, Jail. Illegals are breaking the law by being here. So we could arrest them, convict them, and put them to work. It might even convince a lot of them to leave the country of their own free will before they get arrested.

SGT (Verify To See) - Yes; I am aware of that, and I don't think $1/day per worker is going to break anyone's bank. I doubt there would be any trouble getting people to work since the Maricopa County Jail has more volunteers than work and only gives it as a reward to those who are model inmates; it seems that people like the chance to get outside the jail and work rather than being cooped up. What rights are you talking about?

SGT (Verify To See) - Let them complain. Honestly, I don't believe making convicts work for their room and board is cruel or unusual punishment.

I think it'd be better served if we just did more to beef up the BP. Better pay, benefits, technology, and more officers. It'd last longer and we'd better results.

At least Trump got the ball rolling with his fence but who knows what will happen??

Now I know this is a joke, but I could really see Trump doing this; as tacky as it is, imagine 2000 miles of Trump tackiness along the border, and we have to finance it.

That is not the right approach. Much of the border is on Indian Reservations and they aren't willing to permit such actions, at least at last check. There are areas that are unnecessary to fence in due to topographical reasons. Regardless of what is done, tunnels and other mechanical means can be used to cross. The fence approach would require a massive increase in BP staff to oversee the fence.
The solution is to deny all benefits to anyone not documented as living in the USA, legal and illegal. Once we can establish, who and where, then we can properly address the problem.
