Hi guys I’m shipping out late November and it falls during holiday exodus(?) I really want to do HRAP because I heard it doesn’t take leave days. (Is this true, and do you get paid during this)
However I don’t want to be the only one who stays for holiday exodus so I don’t know what to do.

Thanks!

If you have an option for HRAP then use it. Normally they want to wait until you are out of Basic to work in the recruiting office because you're supposed to talk about your experiences. However, if they let you DO IT, it would save you from going in the hole on leave, you would earn extra TDY money and they might even cover some of the cost for you to get home.

I opted with hrap. It gives u an idea of what ur recruiters have to go though. Not to mention u could possibly change or save some ppeopls lives u know back home.

During BCT, should I take leave for the holiday exodus or do hometown recruiting (HRAP)?

So during that holidays this time of year they have block leave an all troops return home for a predetermined amount of time. I don't believe that hometown recruting is an option for that time seeing as to how you half to be approved by your commander an the recruiting stations commander. Seeing as that your not "a soldier" until you complete bct an ait I highly doubt that would be an option

So all basic trainees have to take that block leave, or can you choose to stay at basic training? And I know I don't want to do HRAP for when I'm home for block leave but I want to do it after AIT and before my first duty station.

Back in 1988 when I went through BCT it fell during the holidays. We weren't required to take leave but was greatly encouraged to do so. We were told if we weren't to take leave we would be placed in a holding company with others that didn't and would be doing details around post during the exodus period. I'm not sure if anyone didn't take leave.

So, it would be wise to just take leave? Also, when was the next time you took leave, since you were probably out of leave days for a while right?

The next time I took leave after that was after I completed AIT, before going to my first duty station.

Just so you know, you will be taking leave during the Holiday Exodus.....everyone will go home so the DS have a break.
