I don't remember ever hearing anything about this. And Type 2 is largely preventable.

Type 2 is extremely common; as you become older your body does not burn off sugars as it used to when you were 25-35yrs old. Seeing a nutritionist is the best way educate oneself about any problems body & diet related.
The High Fructose/Glucose Corn Syrup; sticks to your body longer and it's in almost everything super processed. There is a historical reason why manufactures started used these chemicals instead of sugar; but not going to bore everyone with tedious details.

It seems like it’s an epidemic here where I live. The VA has approved an insulin pump for me and has improved my A1C from 9 to almost 6.5. Its sure requires a lot of attention.

But the reason I started this thread is because Diabetes seems to affect the military population more so than civilians. Surely the only reason cant be just because we stop exercising. Theres got to be another reason. We have worked out longer and at a higher intensity than the general public. It just doesnt make sense to me why diabetes is so prevalent among servicemembers.

SGT (Join to see) The only "Known" (what I know) is that I know that Agent Orange caused that disorder. It did not discriminate from one person to another..I had 2 of my vets pass away long ago; it was part of their diagnosis with numerous other health issues

GOT DIABETES, ? Here's One For Ya. I Have Diabetes;, Not Unusual For An Ole Vet Like Me, But What IS Unusual Is "How I Happen To Get It"... Brace Yourself, Surprised The "L" Out Of Me Too: I Had An Un-diagnosed Liver Infection Which Went On For Many Years, And I Became Ill ~ And Worse With Time; But My Primary Kept Saying "Rick, There's Nothing Wrong With You. Your Blood Test Turn Out Great, Although You DO Have An Increase In White Blood Cell Count, But It's Nothing To Worry About" And Refused To Authorize A Complete Physical, ~ " Because I Can't Justify The Cost".~ YEARS Pass By And I'm Taken To The ER, Completely Unaware (Infection Had Gone To My Brain By Then & ALL Of My Teeth Were Lost As Well) ~~ I Wind-Up Having Emergency Surgery ~ Which Saved My Life ~ And Close To The Entire Month Of December Hospitalized. ~~ NOW Here's The CAUSE: As Explained To Me By Another VA Physician: (Paraphrased, But Accurate) ~~ As Infections Enter Our Body, The Pancreas Pumps Out Sugar In The Attempt To Cure The Illness.... As The Infection Increases, So Does The Amount Of Sugar Being Pumped Into Your Body ~~ Eventually CREATING My DIABETES ~ So Here I Sit Years Later, Taking Metformin Due To ANOTHER Series Of Errors. ~~ Aka: S.N.A.F.U.
