SP5 Christine Conley - Wouldn't it have been easier to not have "trending" so-called news?

The country is more divided now than it ever has been, and will remain so for as long as I can foresee. Guys like me are traditionalist, and we hate to see the fabric of what made this country great being destroyed. Some that are not traditional are the opposite. What they see as Progressive, Traditionalists see as destructive. Civil War? I don't know. I think that the only way a Civil War will break out is if there is serious Gun confiscation or restriction in our free exercise of Faith.

SSG Roger Ayscue - It doesn't help any that traditionalists are also viewed as anti-progress. They are viewed as anti-science. They are perceived as wanting to live in the "dark ages". Basically, they are implying that progressives got us to where we are at today. They don't understand traditionalist philosophy. You are correct. We respect the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the sacrifice of our forefathers, the efforts of our founders, but we also want this country to move forward; not way from these ideals, but carrying these values with us into the future. Progressives don't believe that is possible.
This country will be divided for years, even decades to come. We have become a society of the perpetually offended. I don't know why this is, instead of people taking on the pursuit of happiness, they prefer to actively look for things that offend them. We have become a society where we don't respect each other. Gone are the days when two people of differing ideologies could sit down, have an intelligent discussion and simply agree to disagree. Now, when you disagree, you are called bigot, racist, hateful, and a whole host of other names. You are not even allowed to set your own morals anymore. There are people out their that say you should live according to the morals of society (but they won't say who gets to set those morals).
I don't know where this country will end up 4, 8, 20 years from now, but the country that I knew some 20-30 years ago is long gone, perhaps never to be seen again.

It has been admitted by former employees of Facebook.

Am I against it? I'm pretty apathetic, I don't really care. Other than this site, I usually don't use social media such as Facebook for political reasons, or to post opinions. I use it for entertainment and network with old friends.

I agree. I don't use FB for news, so that's not a concern. Plus, I see many other websites that have much stronger, and more overt, political leanings....and I don't see anyone trying to make them adjust. I see this as a non-issue.

Yes Capt Brandon Charters, while not looking into the evidence specifically, I believe from past experience with Facebook that the social network has been deliberately filtering their trending topics news section. I have seen a liberal/progressive lean to Facebook for many years.
