I have searched the internet high and low and can't find an answer to my question. I was told by the NCOIC of CIF that there is possibly and ALARACT or MILPER Message out that says we don't have to turn in our flame retardant uniforms when you retire/ETS. Does anyone have anymore information on this. I recently had a soldier that was charged and the NCOIC told me this after the soldier paid for everything and ETS'd out of the Army.

Depends on the unit. I been in some that account for every dime and others who toss the gear in the trash.

As I recall from my ETS last November, I did not turn in any uniforms, including the ones that my clothing record said I had to. I brought them in, but CIF didn't want any of them. I now have very many uniforms.

If it's on your clothing record and it says ETS "Y" then you get to keep it. As things cycle out of the inventory the Army stops collecting them back. For instance, I can no longer turn in any BDU or black cold weather or rain gear, and I have a black and green sleeping bag I don't have to turn in now.
