Do any of my fellow combat arms friends have problems with tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a very common annoying aliment. It is not just combat related. Many have it worse in their left ear (driving with the window down). If you do get hearing aids, make certain the tone and volume is adjusted to a comfortable level otherwise it will only magnify the ringing.
Good Luck!

Tinnitus, in itself, is an indication of other disease or damage in the ear. No matter the adjustment of the hearing aid, it does not magnify the ringing. What it does do, just a ear plugs do, is block other ambient "white noise" that distracts you from the Tinnitus. I suffer from 80% hearing loss in my right ear and 20% on the left. I use a hearing aid in my right ear. If I leave my hearing aid in place, but turn it off, the Tinnitus is actually more noticeable.

10% is my VA "reward". Back in 1981, I had a grenade simulator blow up within arms reach of my face. Shit has been ringing ever since. Fucking OPFOR was a bit too motivated about them Russian trenches at Bragg....

Yep, tinnitus is good for 10%. Strangely enough, it doesn't matter how bad it is, or whether you have it in both ears or just one... still 10%
